Degree Requirements

The Curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts

“Great Books in the Disciplines”
The College offers a single curriculum in the liberal arts consisting of 131 credit hours and leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. The curriculum is aptly described as “Great Books in the Disciplines” because it is organized by the disciplines and by the texts read in the courses.

Degree requirements are as follows:

Theology – 24 hours
Philosophy – 24 hours
Literature – 24 hours
Classical Languages – 24 hours
Trivium and Quadrivium – 15 hours
Political Tradition, Person & Community – 6 hours
Courses in Rome, Greece, and/or Oxford – 6 hours
Seminar – 8 hours

Total Hours – 131

CSTM Online courses
Students who wish to take CSTM Online courses may pursue the Bachelor of Arts degree. Please consult with an academic advisor from the College for planning a B.A. degree with online courses.

Associate of Arts Degree (A.A.)
The Associate of Arts degree may be awarded to students upon completion of a balanced course of studies in the College curriculum. This includes the following requirements:

1. Completion of the following six courses in the College curriculum:

a. Western Theological Tradition I
b. Western Theological Tradition II
c. Philosophy of Nature
d. Epistemology
e. Epic I
f. Tragedy and Comedy

2. Completion of the courses constituting the general education core (or transfer equivalent courses, up to twenty-one credit hours);

3. Completion of at least 60 credit hours overall (up to 30 of which may be transfer credit hours).

The Associate of Arts degree normally is a terminal degree and therefore not awarded to students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree.
