Attended by invited guests, faculty, staff, and students, the evening’s event began with a warm welcome given by Forum Director – Raymond Pfang. Mr. Pfang gave his audience a quick reminder about the purpose of the Forum: to build links with members of the business community; these links and relationships are seen by the College as being important in enhancing the employability of CSTM’s graduates. Through various initiatives and collaborations, the Forum would also serve to increase the College’s profile within the local Fort Worth community. The importance of the Business Forum was affirmed by College President – Michael King, the evening’s Guest Speaker, who gave the gathering an interesting update of College developments. In his presentation, Mr. King outlined the significant efforts which had been made, thus far, to improve the existing infrastructure and management; he also took the opportunity to highlight the challenges still facing the institution and to explain the efforts which were being made to achieve some of the College’s long term objectives.
On Monday, September 19th, The College of Saint Thomas More was privileged and honored to host Mr. Jim Coffey, the Vice President of Advancement for the Papal Foundation. The Papal Foundation is an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Holy Father’s personal initiatives of worldwide, corporal works of mercy. The foundation supports projects around the world to alleviate poverty and hunger, in particular by providing relief to people suffering from natural disasters. They help build up destitute communities by providing much-needed housing, schools, hospitals, and shelters for the homeless, as well as rebuilding devastated churches. Mr. Coffey spoke to the College community about the importance of Catholic education in the modern world by reminding everyone of the recent remarks of the Holy Father on the subject. The primary purpose of a Catholic college, according to Pope Benedict XVI, is to teach in the light of Faith and to provide a culture founded on Charity. Students must learn in such a way as to see all things in relation to God and be rooted in a willingness to give themselves to others for the sake of God.
October 6th marked the beginning of what looks to become a regular institution at the College of Saint Thomas More. On Thursday evenings, the Dean of the College, Dr. Ryan Madison, and his wife, Laurel, open their home to the students of the College and friends from the local community. Students enjoy stimulating conversation as they are treated to a wonderfully home-cooked meal. Afterward, everyone retires to the living room where a more formal discussion is conducted by reading through the Summa Theologiae of St. Thomas Aquinas. The group has begun by discussing the first question of the Summa, in which St. Thomas explains the nature of theology. On the evening of October 13th, the group talked about the difference between three different types of wisdom: philosophical, theological, and mystical or spiritual. The conversation gravitated towards the superiority of theological wisdom over philosophical as well as the relation between philosophy, theology, and the spiritual life.
Follow us on our Admissions Road trip during this week of October 23rd-28th! The College of Saint Thomas More could be traveling to a state near you! Our admissions counselor, Justin Nelson, and our very own president, Mr. Michael King, will be traveling through Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Arkansas, sharing the mission of the College with Traditional Catholic communities in the area. The College of Saint Thomas More is a true Liberal Arts college, founded on the Great Books Program and an authentic Thomistic Philosophy. These two areas work hand in hand to aid our students on their quest for perfection. Today’s students must be able to adapt to the arguments presented by a society that is changing more rapidly than ever. Our curriculum prepares students to engage and to correctly explain the truth in any situation. Realizing that a sound curriculum is essential but does not satisfy all the requirements for a complete education, the College supports a lived out Catholicism through its campus life. The Liturgy is the source from where all campus life flows at The College of Saint Thomas More. Morning Prayer, the Rosary, and Mass are offered daily in our chapel. On Fridays, the campus community gathers for adoration, benediction, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Daily devotions are promoted and accommodated. Truly, the College assists in the seamless integration of the truths presented in the classroom to all the other activities of daily life. This is an exciting time for the College, and we can not wait to share it with you! For more information, please contact Justin Nelson at ...

Samuel F. Weber, O.S.B.

“The daily schedule at the College of Saint Thomas More revolves around the Sacred Liturgy of the Church,” said Michael King, President of the College. “When classes are in session, each school day begins with Terce at 8.45 AM, followed by morning classes. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered at 12.00 NOON, followed by lunch in the Refectory for the entire college community of students, faculty and staff. The day then continues with afternoon classes. On Fridays, the midday Mass is immediately followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and two hours of Adoration, and then the school week is brought to a close at 3.00 PM in the Chapel with praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Before Terce began on the opening day of classes, Fr. Samuel informed students, faculty and staff that the Latin word Terce means the “third hour” and symbolizes that it has been three hours since the sun has risen.” Father said that it was only appropriate that the school day begins with Terce because it is the hour of the Holy Spirit, whose help we should implore in all our scholarly and daily pursuits.

People from the Fort Worth community are welcomed to assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and join in the other liturgical activities of the College.
