The library, located at 3017 Lubbock Ave., contains 14,451 books and 543 audiovisuals which are catalogued according to the Library of Congress system. The library houses rare books dating from the late 18th century to middle of 19th century. Many first editions are found among the shelves.
The library serves approximately 50 students and 8 faculty members. The academic mission of the library of the College of St. Thomas More is to enrich intellectual growth, empower teaching and research, and provide unlimited access to information for faculty, students, and community. With flexibility, cooperation, and diversity, the library offers timely service to all patrons.
Online Catalogs and Searches
Patrons have online access to the CSTM Online Library Catalog as well as to other online resources with several libraries and publishers who offer online searches for books and journals. Project MUSE is a unique collaboration between libraries and publishers, providing 100% full-text, affordable and user-friendly online access to a comprehensive selection of prestigious humanities and social sciences journals.
CSTM students with official ID’s have the opportunity to participate in the TexShare program with other Texas colleges and universities.
Policies and Procedures
Computer Policy
Computers in the library are primarily and foremost for academic learning and research through access to library collections and other information resources. Internet chat sessions, game playing, and non-academic access is strictly prohibited.
Copyright Policy
The College of St. Thomas More adheres to the Federal Copyright Law (Title 17, US Code) and subsequent amendments governing photocopying of copyrighted materials. Materials copied must be used for private study, scholarship or research. User may be liable for copyright infringement.
Interlibrary Loan
As a member of TexShare, the library is obligated to share print resources with other members of the state program. Students from other institutions must show their TexShare ID card. Likewise, CSTM students borrowing books from other lending institutions must show their TexShare ID. Book limit of 2 books with 14 day loan period.
Confidentiality Policy
Circulation records and other records linking a patron of the College of St. Thomas More with specific materials or services is confidential according to the Texas Public Information Act of 1999. The USA Patriot Act 2001 alllows the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement officers with court orders to obtain library records for investigations relevant to national security or terrorism. Librarians served with these search warrabts may not disclose the nature of the investigation, persons involved, or materials included. Borrowers cannot be told that their records were given to investigators.
Fees and Fines
Processiung fees are declared when the borrower declares an item to be lost or the library declares them to be lost. This fee with the replacement cost of the item will be assessed to the borrower. If after two months the item cannot be found, the borrower will not be eligible for a refund.
Overdue Charges
Overdue charges are assessed at the rate of $0.25 per day per item beyond the due date with a maximum fine of $25.00. Patrons using items held on reserve that are not returned on time will be charged a fine of $5.00 per day per item.
